Simple Sugar... I’m a simple sugar, available on every street corner store. I come in candies and sweets, making me hard to ignore. I pour into every beverage, creating sweetness you adore. I dare to compete and have many dupes, but none compare to my galore. I make insulin go crazy, running for its money. I’m a staple of the modern American diet, holding first place in contributing to obesity. I appear in countless videos, stimulating dopamine synergy. I flow into cola, juice, and chai; without me, everything feels empty of energy. I’m friends with high-fructose corn syrup, hijacking liver metabolism. I’m the proud architect of diabetes, en route to damaging kidneys in microcosm. I’m notorious for premature heart disease and triggering brain attack through hidden mechanism. I’m what companies love, doubling profits year after year. I spread my web of addiction to boost the stock pioneer. I compete with cocaine, lightening up the same areas of the brain with cheer. I’m simple yet powerful. I’m life’s essential element. I work wonders when consumed in the right amounts. I can be restrained and relinquished. I perform best when discipline is followed. I’m a simple sugar. - Suman Manchireddy MD

Well said! I'm happy to say, we gave up simple sugar years ago...and don't miss it. We watched a lecture by Robert Lustig "Sugar, The Bitter Truth". We researched further..and we were done.
