Doctor's Heart Series Random Thoughts #1 : Twilight
In the world of excess, how much is too much!
I wonder what it would be like with our ancestors sitting under a tree and gazing at stars during twilight, thinking about what was going on a few miles away. The unknowing must have been the quest for more.
I wonder how much is too much; Information we have, the clothes we wear, and the food we eat have crossed all the barriers as human beings.
I wonder how much is too much, Information and data have been piling up, and the mind wanders around to get more. Is this quest for knowledge that we are seeking or the race unending. Who are our genuine competitors, possibly ourselves?
I wonder how much is too much, religion and conservatism! Religion and conservatism are rebranding themselves, pushing people to the brink.
I wonder how much is too much; Travel! Although the World has gotten a lot smaller due to increased connectivity, roughly 100k flights fly at any time, aiding in pollution.
I wonder how much is too much, Global warming! Current trends show rapid heating of the globe, causing more environmental menace than ever before.
I wonder how much is too much, processed food! Global health indicators point towards the highest mortality and morbidity due to heart disease, likely linked to the highest amount of processed food.
I wonder how much is too much, Immigration! Immigration in search of better life, again, what is better, moving to the country safe and secure or uprooting your ancestry.
I wonder how much is too much, population! A small country like Bangladesh fits half as many people as the United States of America.
I wonder how much is too much, Gun violence! Where mass shootings have become the norm, societies are numb towards stricter Gun laws.
I wonder how much is too much, Opiates! Pain has been around for as long as humans lived. It’s this that human life is lost due to excess.
I wonder how much is too much, food! The amount of food currently consumed almost doubled in the last two decades, making more than half the population overweight.
Now I am under a tree thinking, as a human, how far we have come. The quest for knowledge has catapulted us to the current situation. But, where knowing more is often given a reward, or does it?
I wonder how much is too much!
